I'm a member of Taste London and have used the card extensively over the last year or so to save money when eating out. On this page i'm going to tell you about the scheme and also some of my favourite restaurants that i've used the card at.
The premise of Taste London is simple: you pay an annual fee for the card and in return you get 50% off or 2-4-1 on food at hundreds of restaurants. You benefit from the saving on the food and the restaurant makes it money from the drinks, service charge and from getting new customers on quiet nights.
I’d highly recommend membership if you eat out regularly during the week – a lot of the better restaurants don’t let you use the card on the weekend.
Taste London restaurants i'd recommend:
Bombay Bicycle Club, Hampstead: excellent, upmarket Indian restaurant. I love to share a mixed grill with a side of their massala sauce and a naan bread. Really friendly service and one of my favourite restuarants in and around Hampstead. Last visit: July 2009.
Frederick's, Islington: lovely family run restaurant in Islington. Picturesque dining room and good food to match. The Eton Mess dessert was perfectly executed and memorable for it's wonderful simplicity and flavour. Last visit: April 2009.
Chowki, Soho: unusual, authentic Indian with a menu that changes quarterly and reflects the cuisine of different regions of India. Last visit: September 2008.
Pizza Express, various: consistent and reliable pizza chain. Great for a quick lunch or casual dining. Pizza's are fresh and of a good standard and with the Taste London discount are a bargain. Last visit: June 2009.
Cafe Spice Namaste, Tower Bridge: another great Indian, which does a fine (and unusual) range of chutneys. A bit out of the way and hard to find, but worth the effort. Last visit: August 2008.
